A tour to orphanage provide from CCCU7

I was a little nervous as I stepped off the bus. We had driven very far and I did not know what to expect at the orphanage

     I was a little nervous as I stepped off the bus. We had driven very far and I did not know what to expect at the orphanage. I found the children were just as shy to meet us. We must have looked so strange to their eyes — fourteen big foreigners fumbling around with our hands in our pockets and carrying large back-packs on our shoulders. The directors of the orphanage gave us a short tour to show us the construction they needed to complete to give the children more living space. I hope they get this space.

     Those children were so precious. Several of the children presented us with beautifully wrapped gifts of their own special treasures or drawings they had done which demonstrated obvious talent and care. How much feeling and effort went into those gifts — and for strangers!

     I felt very moved. The gifts we brought seemed so small in comparison with the generous hearts of the children. I wanted to carry them on my shoulders and play games with them to make them laugh, but felt unable to do so because of my poor Chinese language skills.
